The design studio says my artwork can't be embroidered

Our studio automatically checks whether artwork can be stitched, and it sometimes says no to designs we can actually embroider. If that happens, order the design as heat seal and message us: our team will check it and switch it to embroidery by hand.

Our studio automatically checks whether artwork can be stitched, and it sometimes says no to designs we can actually embroider. If that happens, order the design as heat seal and message us: our team will check it and switch it to embroidery by hand.

Why it happens

The automatic check is cautious. It usually rejects artwork with:

  • a background that isn't removed, or a busy background;

  • very thin lines or tiny text;

  • shading, gradients or photo detail, which thread can't reproduce.

What to do

  1. Try the background setting: on the embroidery design, set Background inside design to Remove.

  2. Simplify if you can: solid shapes, thicker lines and fewer colours stitch best.

  3. Still rejected? Choose Heatseal for that design, place your order, then message us on live chat with your order number and "please change to embroidery" (say which type: standard, 3D, chain stitch or flocking). We'll review the artwork, update it and confirm with you, including any price difference.

  4. Not sure before ordering? Send us the artwork on live chat first and we'll tell you whether it can be stitched.

What we can't do

  • Gradients, shading or photographic detail in thread. For a gradient with texture, ask about puff heat seal, or embroidery combined with a digital print.
